web series india

Gone are the days when one would sit in front of a television and enjoy the crap thrown on the name of entertainment. I remember the days when women in the house (not my house, my house loved comedies and they still do) would force you to sit and watch the pathetic indian saas bahu dramas. 10 years on and the torture continues. I hate to say that the modern Indian television has gone from bad to worse, for the sake of humanity, why would you show a naagin taking revenge. Then there are so called crime shows like Savdhaan India, which intend to teach you a lesson (a good one) and urge you to stay protected, but all they sound and look like are soft core adult shows and mind you, the adults aren’t the only ones watching them, there are kids hitting their puberty who are a huge die-hard fans of such shows.

Well, it’s 2016 and the internet is fast and I mean literally really fast by the standards of what we had a few years ago and that also means there are amazing things on the internet to watch than the normal cat and dog videos.

You can go around and search whatever comes to you mind on the internet or specifically on YouTube, but I want to mention a few wonderful, original web shows on the internet and these should be right at the top of your must watch or must follow list. You’ll also acknowledge the fact that there are talented people who think more than the normal daily soaps we are fed on our Indian televisions everyday.

So, without wasting any more lines, here’s a list of some of the best Indian web series you can enjoy on YouTube and you’ll want to thank me or the creators for that.

BAKED by ScoopWhoop

Baked ScoopWhoop

Ever wanted to start something of your own when you were in your college, Yeah! I get the feeling. Well, Baked is as ScoopWhoop says, “India’s most ambitious original fiction web-series which chronicles the misadventures of three university flatmates who decide to start a midnight food delivery service.” Sounds interesting, really interesting right?
It is one hell of a laughter ride. So, what are you waiting for, go hit the link below and enjoy the ride, enjoy the first episode.

PITCHERS by The Viral Fever (TVF)

Well, who doesn’t know The Viral Fever and their qtiyapa. No, I’m not going to detail anything further, because if youdon’t know about The Viral Fever, you better start a Google search like right now. The Pitchers is TVF’s second original series, the first one is third on this list of mine. The story of 4 friends who start their own startup after realising what they really want from their life is indeed inspiring. The fact that this is an original series and it is better than the shit offered on Indian television makes it exciting. Start by watching the first episode of TVF’s Pitchers below.

permanent roommates

This is TVF’s first original web series and is a favourite among many YouTubers. The story revolves around a couple who have been in a long distance relationship for over three years and are now facing theprospect of getting married, thus the title Permanent Roommates. It is true, it has comedy and it has sense. It’s into its 2nd second, but you know the drill, start with the first season.

Happy To Be Single by Sony Music India

happy to be single web series

Presented by Sony Music India and produced by Madboys entertainment, Happy To Be Single as the name suggests is a web only series that centers around a love triangle with buckets of laughter and mad comedy between three best buddies. Although, it is a web only series targetted at Tamil audience, the 10 minute episodes comes with a combination of Tamil and English dialogues. It is hilarious and worth your time on YouTube.

the bad indian web series

You’ve lost your job, you don’t have a place to stay, you are finding it difficult to get over or get on your feet back and then you are a woman, you are single and you are brown. Yeah! This sounds like a wonderful story and if that’s not enough to convince you to watch this web series, The Bad Indian has comedy and it is brought to you by engineer, actress and filmmaker Janaki Tambe. And yes, this is American desi story, which is again, innnteresting.
